After a month I'm not going to finish the series after all. My next post was going to be a bit snarky and I'm just going to move on.
Mark 5:34
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
But didn't Jesus made her well? But Jesus said that it was her faith that did it, how does that work? Though faith has no virtue in and of itself (except that it is a gift from God) it was the thing that made it happen. Had this woman had no faith, she would not have been healed. God will do everything, but you must have faith.
And, once again, we see that her faith had works.
Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
The Holy Spirit tells her to touch Him, she believes, she obeys, she gets healed. Her faith made her well, but it was Jesus that made her well, but without her faith she would not have gotten healed so Jesus praises her faith. Funny.
Typical of Jesus to be so gracious. As if faith doesn't come from Him too.
My favorite illustration (did I post this before?): Imagine you're stuck in a well. "Grace" comes to save you and throws down a rope called "Faith." You have to take hold, and continue to hold the whole bumpy ride up. You are saved by "Grace" through "Faith" and without the "works" of holding on, your faith is dead. I think it's good at showing how faith by itself is nothing; what matters is who your faith is in - who's on the other side of the rope.
So yeah, our faith heals us, but it's not our faith, it's who our faith is in.

Then why did Jesus say "YOUR faith has made you well"? He didn't say anything about "the faith that I put in you that you had in God has made you well".
